SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – In a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 8, the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department asked the public’s help in finding three men allegedly involved in using stolen credit cards at a South Haven store. The credit cards have been tied to a string of car break-ins in parks all along the lakeshore.
In the photos shared, three men are seen shopping with the stolen credit cards in South Haven. One man is distinguishable with long blonde hair and possible facial hair. The other two men in the picture are white or latino men with short dark hair.
Lt. Brett Ensfield with the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department urges the public to be careful not to leave their valuables in parked cars before heading out on an excursion. “Typically this time year, people go to the beach and don’t want to take their wallet and stuff down to the beach so they just leave it in their car,” Ensfield said. “That’s just a haven for someone to see a purse strap or a computer and grab it if the car is unlocked or break the window if the car is locked.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Department would like to remind residents when leaving their vehicle for an extended amount of time to:
- Lock your vehicle doors
- Roll windows all the way up
- Remove all valuables from your vehicle prior to going to the beach
- If you leave valuables in your vehicle, hide them really well! Don’t place them in a place you typically leave them; you don’t want anything to be visible (i.e. a purse strap).
