ALLEGAN, MI (92 7 WHTC, Nov. 2, 2026) – Although the weather in October was very mild, road crews across the state are not being lulled into a sense of complacency about the upcoming winter season as the calendar flips over into November.
Allegan County Road Commission Executive Director Craig Atwood says that preparations for whatever comes have been in progress for some time.
National Weather Service forecasters are predicting a relatively drier and warmer-than-normal winter for Michigan during the months of December through February, due mostly to strong-to-very-strong El Nino wind currents in the equatorial Pacific, which nudges the jet stream further north, and keeps traditional Arctic outbreaks more limited.
