OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 11, 2024) – Now that Michael Brashears is back in harness as Executive Director of the Ottawa County Community Mental Health department, he is into his duties full bore.
On Thursday, from 3-5 PM, a meet and greet reception is planned at the County Administration Building on the Fillmore Street campus (12220 Fillmore St., West Olive) for Brashears, who was initially named the interim chief in May, and assumed the duties permanently in July. He had been the director from 2008 to 2013 before stepping down in favor of Lynne Doyle, who then had the reins until going on medical leave this past January. She resigned in April.
Since his return, Brashears has impressed many with how he has tackled mental health issues in the county, including Third District Commissioner Doug Zylstra of Holland.
Brashears will be holding weekly “conversation series” with the public on Fridays, from 12 Noon to 2 PM, at the CMH offices on Holland’s North Side (12265 James St., Holland Twp.). This coming Friday’s topic will be the state and local general fund.
