SPRING LAKE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Spring Lake’s Village President is resigning.
Joyce Verplank-Hatton says she is resigning Wednesday after today’s election. At the polls today, voters will decide whether to alter the Village Charter to get the issue of disincorporating the village on the ballot in November.
Before Verplank-Hatton was elected last year, she campaigned on the issue. She says if voters approve the issue today, she will continue efforts to disincorporate the village as a village resident.
President Pro-tem Mark Powers will become president of the village after Verplank-Hatton resigns, and will remain as such until her term is over.
