HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A fourth community is now on board with the Macatawa Area Express.
Late last fall, Park Township residents took a survey about public transportation in their area. The results of that survey led the Macatawa Area Coodinating Council to believe that a bus system was needed.
The board approved a three-year “trial” agreement with the Max and agreed to allocate funds from the budget to add one more bus to the Max’s fleet. The estimated cost for the new bus is $104,000. Park Township voters will be asked to approve a four tenths of a million levy to continue the service after the trial period has ended.
There is no new fixed bus route, but Park Township residents can call the service at (616) 355-1010 to reserve a ride.
A ceremonial ribbon cutting on the morning of Monday, July 31 inaugurated the on-demand “Catch-a-MAX” bus service with Park Township.
The current bus fare rate also remains unchanged. Go to www.catchamax.org for more details.
