HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – As the summer comes to a close, many Holland-area families are gearing up for the start of fall sports practices during the week of Aug 7th. The members of the Holland High School Marching band, however, have been working all summer long for their half time performances during the upcoming football season.
HPS Band Director Demetrius White talked to host Gary Stevens during Wednesday’s WHTC Morning News about this week’s summer band camp, where they are practicing a Michael Jackson medley to be performed at the August 24th Holland High football game against the Wyoming Wolves.
When asked about what things the band needed to work on to prepare for the upcoming season, White said “Even though the kids are fine musicians and great leaders, we’ve needed to beef up the rehearsal schedule.” The marching band has been practicing at least once a week since school let out in June.
