ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 21, 2026) – It may be a long Monday evening ahead for the Zeeland City Council.
The governing panel has a 90-minute Work Study Session ahead of a 7 PM biweekly business meeting, as there are a number of issues the members will be discussing and voting upon, from Zeeland BPW matters to pending litigation, which will be talked about behind closed doors. Among the issues up for a vote is a proposed lease agreement with Zeeland Public Schools for land off of East Main Street to relocate and expand the Bethel Playground, which needs to be moved in order to accommodate the Mead Johnson expansion of its Reckett’s operations, as well as doubling the annual $10,000 allocation to the ODC Network for its Project Clarity initiative. It is recommended by Interim City Manager Kevin Plockmeyer that this matter be reviewed on an annual basis as part of the budget process, as the non-profit is asking for a five-year funding commitment.
