SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 26, 2024) – The process for Saugatuck Public Schools to select a new operational leader has begun in earnest.
On Thursday, the district announced the establishment of a public survey into what residents, parents and other stakeholders would want in the person that would succeed Dr. Tim Travis as superintendent. Questions posed in a Survey Monkey online questionnaire include key skills, qualities and characteristics desired in the new leader; challenges the district faces in the next three to five years; and points of pride that the district has. Results of the survey will be submitted to retained consultant Michigan Leadership Institute, which will then be presented to the Board of Education for review. Hard copies of the survey are available at the district’s offices (401 Elizabeth St.) on the middle/high school campus.
In addition, the district officially posted the job description through MLI in opening the application process for a two-week-long period, through Thursday, October 10th. The board will be informed of superintendent candidates at its monthly third Monday of the month meeting on October 14th, with a special meeting after that to conduct interviews ahead of a November hiring. The new leader would begin duties on January 1st.
Travis announced in July his intention to retire at the end of this current academic year after six years at the helm and 20 years in the district.
