HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 16, 2024) – The League of Women Voters of the Holland Area is holding several candidate awareness sessions ahead of the November 5th General Election.
The first of those is on Monday night. From 6 to 7:15 PM in Council Chambers at Holland City Hall (270 S. River Ave.), the Republican incumbents and Democratic challengers for four state House seats in Ottawa County have been invited to attend.
Bradley Slagh and Marcia Mansaray in District 85, Nancy DeBoer and Abby Klomparens in District 86, Greg VanWoerkom and Tim Meyer in District 88, and Luke Meerman and Lois Maasesen in District 89, are slated to make positional statements and answer questions from a league moderator posed by those in attendance, as well as those that were submitted by this past Friday to the league’s website. The session will be video recorded for future observation through a link at the league’s website.
On Tuesday, the LVW holds a 6-9 PM candidate event at Saugatuck High School for those running for Saugatuck City Council; on September 23rd, another candidate forum for state House candidates in Districts 38 and 43 is at the Fennville Public Library; on September 25th, a meet and greet for Ottawa County board candidates in districts 1 through 4, along with hopefuls for county treasurer and water resources commissioner, at the Howard Miller Library in Zeeland; on September 30th, a West Ottawa school board candidates forum at West Ottawa High School; on October 1st, a meet and greet for Ottawa County board candidates in districts 5 through 8, along with district 11, as well as hopefuls for county treasurer and water resource commissioner, at Hager Park west of Jenison; and on October 2, a candidate forum for those running for council seats in the city of the village of Douglas.
