GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 30, 2024) – A Holland City Councilman has increased responsibilities in Grand Rapids.
On Friday, Kent County Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young announced that Scott Corbin is the county’s new Emergency Manager, effective on Sunday. The Holland Fifth Ward Councilman was promoted from Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator to replace Matt Groesser, who is retiring after nearly a 27-year career.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to serve as Kent County’s Emergency Manager and appreciate the trust placed in me to lead through the challenges we will face. I look forward to working with our dedicated team to continue building on the strong foundation laid by my predecessors.” – Scott Corbin
Corbin came to Grand Rapids from Allegan, where he had been the Allegan County Emergency Manager for 18 years before departing in November of 2022. During that time, he won two four-year terms representing the southeast section of Holland on the city council, and is currently the governing panel’s Mayor Pro Tem.
