ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 12, 2024) – A 27-year-old Allendale woman has been arraigned on a felony animal abuse charge and three related misdemeanor counts stemming from a December seizure of 21 dogs that were in “extremely poor” living conditions.
That’s according to a Friday statement from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department in announcing the action taken against Shayna Saing. On December 4th, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the area of Boyne Boulevard and Lake Michigan Drive (M-45), east of 52nd Avenue on an animal neglect complaint. They spotted the canines inside, but no human was home at the time.
The next day, armed with a search warrant, deputies returned and found 21 Pomsky dogs of various ages, and although they were in fair health, the living conditions warranted their seizure. The canine were nursed back to health by the Harbor Humane Society before being successfully adopted.
After the case was presented to the office of Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney Lee Fisher, chargers were authorized, and Saing was arrested this past Wednesday. She was arraigned in Hudsonville District Court and released on a personal recognizance bond pending a preliminary hearing.
