Edwyn Curtis, age 77, of Holland, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, after a short battle with liver cancer.
Ed was a devoted husband and father; a cheerful man, he was famous for his puns, good-natured kidding, and quick wit. After moving to the Holland area, Ed, a PhD Chemist, worked at and retired from Parke-Davis after 25 years. Ed was an accomplished clarinet player, playing for the Holland American Legion Band, Zeeland Community Band, and Green Valley Concert Band in Arizona. Not only did he love to play, but he was also passionate about mentoring young musicians and supporting youth music programs in the Holland, MI and Tucson, AZ areas.
Ed is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kristine; daughter, Emilie (Randy) Duncan; granddaughters: Elizabeth Duncan, Abigail Duncan; brother, Michael (Joy) Curtis; stepmother, Sue Barton-Harris; siblings-in-law: James (Therese) Solsbury, Kathleen Solsbury, Robert Solsbury; nieces, nephews, and great nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Myron & Pencie (Clawson) Curtis; and his brother, Sanford Curtis.
A Celebration of Life Reception will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland. A private family burial will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI. To continue Ed’s passion for music, memorial contributions may be given to the:
