Ruth was born June 5, 1930 in Borculo, MI, to Gerrit (Henry) and Catherine Blauwkamp. She was married to the love of her life, Peter A. Terpstra on August 24, 1950. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was a wonderful homemaker, enjoying knitting, crocheting, cooking and canning, and sewing (even making “cherished” shirts for her three boys). These shirts were later made into quilts for each of the grandchildren. She also had many other interests which included fishing, golfing, playing pool and camping. She and Pete traveled to all 50 states, as well as Europe and China.
Ruth worked as a waitress at Russ’ on 8th St. for 34 years! She and Pete were charter members of Holland Heights CRC. They also were generous with their time and resources volunteering for CRWRC doing disaster relief and many years at Bibles For Mexico.
Ruth is survived by her faithful husband of 73 years, Peter A. Terpstra; sons, Ken (Mary) Terpstra, Jim (Kathy) Terpstra, Dan (Kathy) Terpstra; grandchildren: Wendie (Jeremy) Freriks, Nick (Sarah) Terpstra, Kylie (Jeff) Leeuw, Ryan (Amanda) Terpstra, Emily (Tom) Bierma, Sean (Mary Miller) Terpstra, Nathan (Emilie) Terpstra; 16 great-grandchildren; in-laws Agnes Harmelink, and Ruth (Vugteveen) Terpstra; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and their spouses; Henry (Arloa) Blauwkamp, Arnold (Lucille) Blauwkamp,
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Holland Heights CRC, 836 East Eights Street, Holland, MI. 49423. Visitation with the family will be 4 to 6 PM on Tuesday, November 7 at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland, MI 49464.
