Two from Hope College have been named MIAA Athletes of the Week: senior Grant Holtzer in football and junior Abby Koops in diving.
Holtzer (Okemos, Michigan / Okemos HS) is the MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week for the first time.
The business major claimed the award after recording a career-high 167 receiving yards and two touchdowns on five catches during a 38-28 Senior Day victory against Trine University.
Holtzer hauled in touchdown receptions of 5 yards 15 seconds before halftime and of 63 yards 1 ½ minutes into the fourth quarter for Hope’s final score of the game.
Koops (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Northern) is the MIAA Women’s Diving Athlete of the Week for the second time this season and the 10th time in her career.
The nursing major is honored this week after finishing second on the 3-meter board at the Kalamazoo College Quad with a score of 272.93 points.
Koops also placed fourth on the 1-meter board with a score of 230.10 which was the conference’s second-best score of the season.
Both totals were NCAA Division III regional-qualifying cuts and helped the Flying Dutch win the meet.
