ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 7, 2023) – Implementing aspects of Proposal 2, the voting reform measure which was passed by voters in Michigan last November, is ongoing.
On Monday night, the Zeeland City Council was asked to approve an Early Voting Administrative Services agreement with Ottawa County that would run for just over a two-year span, from October 1st of this year through December 31st of 2025. The deal would allow Zeeland voters to go to any of four early voting centers, in Holland, Grand Haven, Jenison and Coopersville, to cast ballots in any election for nine days prior to Election Day.
Ottawa County Clerk Justin Roebuck, who went over the agreement with Zeeland City Council members in a work-study session before the regular business meeting, talked about the benefits of a county-local cooperative effort when he made a similar presentation to the Holland City Council last month.
County clerks must submit their plans for handling early elections to the Michigan Secretary of State’s office by the end of this month.
The full 22-minute presentation that Roebuck made before the Holland City Council on July 5th can be heard below:
