ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 20, 2023) – The Zeeland City Council has a few things to hear and decide upon on Monday evening.
Council will receive a downtown parking study report and recommendations for consideration. The document goes over proposed changes to help address concerns over traffic and access for residents and visitors, and city staffers feel that pursuing shared parking agreements with additional private lot owners is better than adding more surface lots or constructing a parking structure. A May 8th downtown public meeting to discuss this report in full detail is planned.
Council will also hear a proposal to begin a municipal downtown mural project with a facelift to the west wall of the Main Street Bicycle Company building, with the cooperation of the structure’s owners. Smaller murals elsewhere are also planned.
The panel will vote on a tentative two-year collective bargaining agreement with Utility Workers of America Local 582 that operate the city’s Clean Water Plant, and on renewing licenses to sell alcohol by the glass or bottle to all current holders, with no violations of city statutes spotted during recent inspections.
The Zeeland City Council holds a 5:30 PM study session prior to its 7 PM biweekly business meeting in chambers at Zeeland City Hall (21 S. Elm St.). A link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
