Daniel “Dan” Clark Wehrmeyer was born on September 23, 1946, in Holland, Michigan. Dan served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years as a materials planner at Haworth until his retirement. He later followed in his father’s footsteps, enjoying some time working in real estate. A man of few words, Dan was wise, modest, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Dan loved spending time outdoors, especially gardening and landscaping, for which he had a natural talent. He also enjoyed bowling with friends and golfing with family. Most of all, he treasured time spent with his family. A steady, dependable presence in the lives of his family, Dan was someone they could always count on. He believed you could accomplish anything you put your mind to and that anything worthwhile took hard work. These were lessons he lived by and passed along to his children and grandchildren. His kindness, wisdom, and quiet sense of humor also made him a cherished friend to many.
Dan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barb; his son Matthew (Chris); daughter Anne; and five grandchildren: Anika, Brooke, Elliot and their mother, Anna; and Adriana, Katherine and their father Jesper. The oldest of five children, Dan is also survived by his sisters, Jill (Jack) Scheerhorn, Nancy (Rick) Solis, and Jane Wehrmeyer, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews. His brother, Steven Wehrmeyer, preceded him in death many years ago. Dan will be remembered for his quiet strength, modest nature, and the lasting influence he had on those who loved him.
A private graveside service will be held for family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a Community Action House.
