HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 22, 2023) – A man involved in fighting fires around the Tulip City for over 17 years has been honored.
On Tuesday, the Holland Department of Public Safety’s Fire Division announced that Lieutenant Brad Brower was selected as the department’s 2023 Firefighter of the Year. Nominated by his peers and selected by command officers, he was recognized, “for his positive leadership and exercising it in a manner that is consistent with the department’s core values,” said Captain of Fire Operations Chris Tinney. “He sets high standards for himself and others, makes decisions in a selfless manner for the betterment of the department and his team, and is always developing ways to improve the delivery of services provided to the community.”
Brower had been with the South County Fire Authority in Vicksburg before coming to Holland as a paid on-call firefighter in 2005. He was promoted to a full-time Firefighter/EMT 18 months later, and became a lieutenant in 2012.
Brower joins Jon Lundstrom, who was named Paid On-Call Firefighter of the Year last month, in earning the highest annual honors the Fire Division can bestow.
