HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 22, 2023) – It was a good year for Haworth in 2022.
Although the privately-owned office furniture maker does not have to report revenue as publicly-owned entities do, the Holland-based firm did say in a statement on Wednesday that it had global sales of $2.5 billion last year. It’s a 27.5% increase from 2021 numbers that officials claim was “mostly organic,” and represented the best such numbers in company history.
In a statement, Haworth President/CEO Franco Bianchi is quoted, “Achieving this level of sales is an important milestone for Haworth with credit due to the entire organization and our dealer partners. Together with our clients
and suppliers, we faced a tumultuous 2022 and achieved these results with deliberate strategy, a diversified portfolio and design innovation. We are optimistic about future growth in a less inflationary environment, with more stable supply chains and excellent customer service.”
Some factors cited by Haworth officials for this growth last year was the acquisition of Polish-based manufacturer Mikomax, focusing innovation on new products, and continuing efforts for total renewable energy sourcing by 2025, along with cutting down on waste-to-landfill status.
However, Dr. Brian Long, the director of Supply Management Research at Grand Valley State University whoi monitors the office furniture industry as part of his monthly polling of purchasing managers that comprises his Current Business Trends report, believes that the real reason is a little more basic in nature.
