GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 20, 2022) – A 37-year-old Spring Lake man was injured, apparently by the driving of a 63-year-old Muskegon Heights man, in a two-vehicle collision south of Grand Haven just before dawn on Friday.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matthew Wildfong and other first responders were dispatched to the junction of US-31 and Buchanan Street at 5:35 AM. That was where a southbound sedan – whose driver admittedly was going “70-75 miles an hour” in a 55 MPH zone – rammed into another sedan that was pulling out of a fueling station and caused it to spin out into a ditch.
While the at-fault Muskegon Heights driver wasn’t hurt, the Spring Lake motorist was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of what Wildfong would only say were “non-life threatening” injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
