HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 15, 2022) – If Nick Cassidy has a good day on Wednesday, the interim may be taken off of his current title at Holland Public Schools.
Called upon on November 30th to replace Shanie Keelean as the operational leader of the district when she and the Board of Education agreed to part ways, Cassidy is the only internal candidate for the full-time superintendent’s position. The district will hold a 75-minute open house, beginning at 3:30 PM, at the administration building off of West 24th Street, before board members interview Cassidy at 5 PM for an hour. The panel will then go into a closed-door meeting to decide whether to accept Cassidy as the full-time superintendent, or to continue the search by accepting applications from outside of the district.
“Knowing what we’ve been through and where our school (district) is, I think that there are a lot of benefits to having somebody that knows our history and what our strengths are, and also where we have to focus our energy coming in, having someone they can trust there,” he said on “WHTC Talk of the Town” during a Tuesday appearance.
Keelean came to Holland from the Chicagoland area last July to replace Dr. Brian Davis, who had been Holland’s superintendent for 13 years. More information on the special Wednesday evening session is here.
