WEST OLIVE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 13, 2022) – If you want to know more about what those in blue or brown who are sworn to protect, a current window of opportunity may be closing shortly.
Only 25 openings are available for the multi-session Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Citizen Police Academy. The three-hour sessions on Thursday evenings, from May 5th through June 30th, will go over a wide range of law enforcement aspects, such as road patrol, corrections, central dispatch, marine patrol, community policing and more. Most of the sessions will be held at the Fillmore Street complex just west of 120th Avenue.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, live or work in Ottawa County, have no prior felony arrests and have had no misdemeanor arrests within a year of applying. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis, and depending on a background check and eligibility, applicants will be notified of their acceptance around April 15th.
