ALLENDALE TWP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 4, 2022) – A 56-year-old man lost his life on Friday afternoon in an apparent accident at a new home construction site in Allendale.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christopher Dill, first responders were dispatched to the area of 68th Avenue near Fillmore Street around 1:25 PM. “Upon arrival, rescue workers found the man deceased under a stack of wooden trusses,” Dill said in a department statement. “Allendale Fire was able to free the subject, who was declared dead on scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that the man was unloading trusses from a delivery truck when the trusses fell on top of him.”
The man’s name was not immediately disclosed pending notification of family members. The incident is being investigated by both the sheriff’s office and the Michigan Occupational and Safety and Health Administration.
