UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 4, 2022) – One of two Hope College basketball teams advanced in NCAA Division III championship tournament play on Friday night.
At DeVos Fieldhouse, Kenedy Schoonveld and Olivia Voskuil each scored 16 points as the Flying Dutch defeated visiting LaRoche, 86-54. Hope hosts Marietta, a 65-50 winner over Wittenberg, in a second round match on Saturday evening, with coverage from Greg Chandler at 6:40 PM on 99 7/1450 WHTC.
At Washington University in St. Louis, Nyameye Adom had 27 points, but Wheaton needed two free throws by Cade Alioth with 2.9 seconds left to edge the Flying Dutchmen, 71-69. Hope finishes the season with a 22-7 record.
Grand Valley State’s women entertain Michigan Tech in a GLIAC tournament semifinal game at the Fieldhouse Area in Allendale on Saturday afternoon.

There will be no district title winners in the state high school girls basketball tournament from the 10 schools in the Holland/Zeeland area this winter. On Friday night, Hudsonville stopped West Ottawa, 58-22, and Wayland topped Holland Christian, 51-48.
