ALLENDALE TWP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 3, 2022) – Alcohol “appears to be a factor” in a single vehicle crash near Allendale on Wednesday evening that hospitalized a 19-year-old Grand Haven man.
According to Ottawa County Sherif’s Sergeant Michael Hallmeyer, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to the area of Pierce Street and 56th Avenue around 9:15 PM. “Our investigation at the scene determined a Chevy HHR had been westbound, approaching the intersection, when it drifted off the roadway and overturned in a ditch,” he said in a department statement. “The driver was pinned in and needed to be extricated by Allendale Township Fire personnel. He was then transported to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”
The crash remains under investigation.
