After another break, it’s back to the footpaths.
Today, it’s going to the “backyard” from the broadcast studios on Central Avenue to take a stroll along the Macatawa River at Window on the Waterfront Park.
For one thing, it does look a little bit different now that the Macatawa Greenway has become involved with the city of Holland on this:
It still is a favorite spot to sit and dream.
There is an old generator building there.
Take a glimpse into some history …
From another angle …
A ground-level look at what used to be known as the Black River.
One of the first photos taken in the first Tulip Time experienced in 2002 was of a small windmill here with tulips in front of it. That photo, unfortunately, is long gone … so too is the windmill.
This was probably Cyril Lixenberg’s last creation before he passed away shortly after coming over to Holland from the Netherlands for the dedication.
Betcha the designers of the Unity Bridge didn’t take this in account when they drew up a new span to replace the River Avenue Bridge 16 years ago.
Perhaps the aroma around Window on the Waterfront will improve once this project is completed.
Finally, the mailing address for our station is 87 Central Ave., Holland, MI, 49423 … but this address came up on a cell phone:
Steps today: Around 4,500.
Thanks!
