HOLLAND (WHTC-AM) — It is earwig season.
Earwigs are those little bugs that make their way around and sometimes into your house.
Michigan State University extension officials say they’re one of the least liked insects are not known to bite or sting or get into people’s ears. They don’t attack building, invade pantries or pester pets.
They don’t even transmit diseases or harm trees. But when there are a lot of earwigs around, they can be annoying.
You could vacuum up and dump them.
Or, as master gardener Jan Meeuwsen notes, you can use what’s called a persistent insecticide.
“Spray around the house and I would spray, like, under the sink, around the baseboards — all the places where they might come in,” she said.
Read the labels carefully and don’t spray in areas where small children play.
