SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The Saugatuck City Council has a loose end to take care of and addresses some new issues during a special meeting this afternoon (July 7, 2021).
During a 4 PM session, council members should approve a request to push back a deadline for a committee to report to the City of Saugatuck, the City of the Village of Douglas and Saugatuck Township about efforts to build a non-motorized trail within each of these municipalities. The deadline for that report was June 1st, but in an agenda memo from Saugatuck City Manager Ryan Heise, “While work is well underway, the committee is not prepared to report back to their communities. It is requested that the deadline be removed, with an expectation that the committee will report back sometime before September 1st, if not well before that time.”
Among new business before Council: Heise is asking to be designated as the single Street Administrator for the city in order to represent Saugatuck “in transactions with the State transportation Department,” pursuant to a 1951 state law; approve proposals from Fence Consultants and TNT Roofing totaling nearly six thousand dollars to repair the Mount Baldhead facility fence and roof; and endorse an update to a current agreement with Shoreline Technology that improves email backup retention and security measures with the city.
The Saugatuck City Council is still meeting via ZOOM, with a link to information on public participation and the meeting agenda here.
