Frances Hilda (Hodge) Dixon, age 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 20, 2021 in Holland, Michigan. She was born on October 17, 1924 to James and Claudie Hodge in Lynnville, Tennessee. Her family moved to Detroit in 1925 and she lived in the area until 1990 before moving to Holland to be near her family. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Andrew Dixon, an infant daughter, and a brother, Wilmouth Hodge. Hilda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Allan Smith of Holland. Two grandchildren: Amy (Steven) Bassett of Tolland, Connecticut and Graham (Kimberly Rothwell) Smith of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Seven great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Abigail, Elizabeth and Rebecca Bassett and Gideon, Greta and August Smith. Also her brother, Harry Hodge, age 99, and several nephews and nieces. She was employed for 45 years in office work and management. She retired from Awrey Bakery, which was her favorite and longest employer. She loved people and ‘never met a stranger’. Teas and lunches in her home with friends, and also involvement in Small Groups were special times for her. She enjoyed volunteering at church and Evergreen Commons in her early retirement. Hilda was passionate about her faith and Bible studies were high priorities in her life along with love for her church, Central Wesleyan. She was a prayer warrior for her family and many friends and would wake early each morning to pray. Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6. A family service has been held, officiated by Pastor Larry Johnson and Lynnelle Pierce, and burial in Pilgrim Home cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to Winning at Home and Hospice of Holland. Please check her memorial website for updates at https://www.dignitymemorial.
