Esther Witteveen, 86, of Holland, died Thursday, December 31,2020 at her daughter’s home.
Esther had a heart for discipleship and left a spiritual legacy for her children, grandchildren and many others who she mentored over the years. She was a member of Victory Point Ministries where she led small groups and counseled many.
She also enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Esther worked for many years as a freelance writer for the Grand Rapids Press Lakeshore. She enjoyed also writing letters to her children and grandchildren on special occasions.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, in 2000, and a grandson Justin Kapteyn, in 1987.
Surviving are her children: Jadene and Steve Machiele, Diane and Steve Wolters, Lynn and Corey Kapteyn, James Witteveen, and Kay and Dave Dykstra.
Grandchildren (and great grandchildren): Rebecca and Michael Crockett (Adelyn), Sarah and Aaron Wohlfeil (Mya, Jaslyn, August), Elizabeth and Nick Joung; Mandi Wolters, Kevin Wolters; Christina Kapteyn and Kevin Dekkinga (Willem, Pouwel), Jessica Kapteyn, Matthew Kapteyn; Andrew and Dani Vos (Harper, Hadley), and Cari Vos.
Brothers, Sisters, In-laws: William and Sarah Osterbaan, Bern Lyzenga, Beatrice George, Carl and Lola Osterbaan, Harold and Pat Osterbaan, Judy Osterbaan, Mary Witteveen, Sue Witteveen, Jean and Rev. Robert Westenbroek, Evelyn Medenblik, Alma and Edward Van Oudheusden, Stanley and Kit Witteveen, and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 7 at 1:00.
