The Boston Red Sox signed free agent right fielder Hunter Renfroe to a one-year contract Monday.
Multiple outlets reported the deal was for $3.1 million plus up to $600,000 in incentives.
Renfroe, 28, batted just .156 with eight homers and 22 RBIs in 42 games with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2020.
He slugged at least 26 homers in three consecutive seasons with the San Diego Padres from 2017-19.
Boston originally drafted Renfroe in the 31st round out of high school in 2010. He went to Mississippi State instead and became a first-round pick of the Padres in 2013.
