GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It took about two full days of deliberation for an Ottawa County Circuit Court jury to find Aaron Joshua-John Young guilty.
Young was convicted on Thursday of second-degree murder, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm charges in the September 11, 2016 death of 22-year-old Anthony Lamb. Prosecutors say that Young instigated an altercation between two groups in the parking lot of the Holland Hookah Lounge off of Butternut Drive on Holland’s North Side, then fired a round into the chest of Lamb, killing him within minutes. Young, who took the stand in his own defense during five days of testimony and arguments in the trial, claimed that he had acted in self-defense. Two others involved in the incident have already been sentenced for lesser crimes.
The 26-year-old man could face up to life in prison when he is sentenced on December 26th by Judge Jon Hulsing.
