HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 23-year-old Holland man will spend at least 12 years in prison in connection with a shooting on the city’s east side last March. Justin D-Mario Mason was sentenced Monday, September 17 in Ottawa County Circuit Court to 12-to-20 years behind bars for shooting 25-year-old Jacob Adams as the victim was sitting in his parked car in front of a residence in the 300 block of Stratford Way last March 29. Authorities say Mason approached Adams, demanded items from the driver, then fired a handgun toward him after Adams refused to hand over the items. Adams suffered six bullet hole wounds in the attack. He was able to drive himself to Holland Hospital for treatment. Mason earlier this summer pleaded no contest to armed assault with intent to rob and a felony firearms charge.
