GEORGETOWN TWP. (WHTC-AM/FM) — A Jenison teen is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car while bicycling.
The crash happened at near 44th Street, just east of Eighth Avenue in Georgetown Township just after 10:30 Sunday night, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jay Douglas
“A 29-year-old Wyoming resident, driving a 2010 Ford Fusion, was traveling eastbound on 44th Street when he struck a 14-yearo-old Jenison resident who was riding his bicycle in the roadway, near the center turn lane of the five-lane roadway,” Douglas said.
The driver stopped and aided the teen, who was not wearing a helmet, Douglas said. The teen was rushed to Grand Rapids and is in critical condition at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.
No alcohol was involved, Douglas said. The crash remains under investigation.
