HOLLAND, MI (WHTC, Oct. 30, 2026) – A 45-year-old Louisiana man remains in the Ottawa County Jail following a Friday arraignment on several felony counts stemming from a three-hour standoff at the Drew’s Campground on Holland’s North Side earlier in the week.
Lance Wade Wilson was reportedly staying in a camper at the complex off of Ransom Street between US-31 and 120th Avenue when, around 3:20 PM on Wednesday, he purportedly started firing shots at a contractor who had been doing work outside, and had knocked on the door to discuss payment. Four rounds had been discharged, with several trailers being damaged, but the victim avoided being wounded, and was able to escape to contact authorities.
While the nearby highway was blocked off, and citizens in the area were evacuated, a perimeter was established by members of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Critical Response Team. Wilson eventually surrendered peacefully shortly after 6 PM.
The suspect was ordered held on $25,000 bond after being formally charged with discharge of a firearm in a building, felonious assault, possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, and reckless use of a firearm.
The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
