LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 14, 2026) – Two Lakeshore entities are in line for Michigan Department of Transportation grants.
On Tuesday, the governor’s office announced $65 million in awards through MDOT’s Infrastructure Projects Authority Fund to support “transformational” public transportation efforts across the state. This includes over $621,000 to Harbor Transit for expanding services in the tri-cities area and out to the main GVSU campus in Allendale. In addition, $260,000 is allocated to MAX Transit towards studying a proposed move of its transit hub from the Padnos Transportation Center downtown to the Westshore Mall vicinity on Holland’s North Side.
This grant program came out of last year’s state budget negotiations, which established a nearly $2 billion Sustainable Road Funding Plan.
