SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 19, 2026) – A couple of matters highlight Wednesday’s Saugatuck City Council Workshop.
One is a request from an owner of a short-term rental property to amend the current ordinance, in order to allow for late renewal applications past the expiration date of a STR license. The current grace period is five days, and the city’s attorney has drafted wording which would change that to a 60-day period, which would run from 30 days prior to the deadline to 30 days after that. It would also apply retroactively.
Another is a presentation by the Logo and Branding Committee on its recommendation for a new look for the city. This past December, council approved creating such an advisory panel to make the symbol consistent across various platforms, as it has been nearly two decades since the current logo was created.
No final decisions will be made during this 4 PM workshop in the second floor meeting room of Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.), as these matters should be considered further during this coming Monday’s business meeting.
