Leon Scholten, age 100, of Holland, passed away on December 24, 2020 at Resthaven Maple Woods Cottage with family by his side.
Leon proudly served in the US Army during World War II. He was a lifelong member of Graafschap CRC and loved the Lord with all his heart. Leon was a farmer in Graafschap, then worked as the manager of an irrigation company, and post retirement, he worked for 25 years at Van Wieren Hardware. He volunteered regularly at Bibles for Mexico and World Renew (CRWRC).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adrianna, in 2015; his siblings, Justin Scholten, Gene Scholten, Allen Scholten, Ruth Osterop; and son-in-law, Glenn Chittenden.
He is survived by his daughters, Virginia “Ginger” Chittenden of Holland, Arla (Loren) Hoving of Allegan; grandchildren, Tammy Powers, Mark Fairchild, Jason Fairchild, Melissa Hoving, Nicholas Hoving; three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister, Beatrice Scholten of Florida; sister-in-law, Carole Scholten of Holland; many nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service, with Military Honors, will take place on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Kurtis Ritsema officiating. The service will be recorded and made available online at langelandsterenberg.com. Burial will take place at Graafschap Cemetery.
