Marlyn June Kane, age 94, was born on November 22, 1926 to Oscar and Margaret Ming. She passed away on December 19, 2020 at home with family by her side.
Marlyn lived in Holland all her life and attended Holland High School. During that time in school, she developed an interest in secretarial work and business, this continued throughout her adult life. After raising her family, she started a business called Em-Kay Secretarial Services which would help companies type out proposals or any documents necessary and help college students with any work they needed. She enjoyed her work and took pride in owning her own business.
Marlyn also worked throughout the community at Holland Ladder Company, Bohn Aluminum, Herman Miller, Red Cross and Evergreen Commons. While working at Evergreen Commons, she developed friendships and an interest in bowling and music. She joined the Evergreen Chorale which would put on programs during Tulip Time for visiting tourists. She enjoyed music, singing, dancing and the time she spent on her bowling league.
Marlyn was proceeded in death by her parents Oscar and Margaret Ming; sister and brother-in-law, Tommy Lou and Jim Mooi; brother, Bruce Ming; and daughter. Jodi Bruursema.
She is survived by her son, Shawn Kane; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Steve Tripp; son-in-law, Larry Bruursema; granddaughters, Stephanie (Patrick) Marino, Nikki (Kyle) VandenHeuvel, Megan (Martin) Veliz, Blake (Bryce) Borgman, MacKenzie Tripp (Steve Raad); sister-in-law, Karen Ming; great-granddaughters, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private family service will take place due to the COVID virus.
