OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 10, 2024) – As Ottawa County Sheriff Steve Kempker presents his annual departmental report to the County Board of Commissioners during a Tuesday morning business session, he is expected to talk about the coming deployment of body cams for his patrol deputies and dash cams for department vehicles.
The board is expected to shortly vote on an agreement Kempker has made with Axon for supplying this system that would include about 200 body cameras and 120 vehicle cameras, along with system software and operations. Neighboring Allegan County began implementing mobile video surveillance two years ago.
Allegan County Sheriff Frank Baker.
The Ottawa County system should be ready for trial runs later this summer.
