OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 29, 2024) – Another step in the process for getting body cameras on Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies has been taken.
On Tuesday, Sheriff Steve Kempker announced that Axon has been selected as the vendor that will supply such surveillance on the deputies themselves, as well as installing in-vehicle cameras. An industry leader, with more major law enforcement clients than any other brand, Axon will provide about 200 body cameras and 120 vehicle cameras to the department, as well as the system software and operating systems.
It’s been a long quest for Kempker to get this tool for his deputies.
The Ottawa County system should be ready for trial runs later this summer. The Allegan County Sheriff’s Department began implementing body and vehicle cameras two years ago.
