Lisa DeVries, 55, of Holland, MI passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on February 24, 2024.
Lisa was born in Grand Rapids, MI to Rog and Jan DeLong. She had two sisters, Deb and Kristin, and they remained very close and created wonderful memories as they grew up in the Jenison area. Lisa graduated from Jenison High School and Grand Valley State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She started working for Herman Miller in 1993, dedicating more than 30 years of service, most recently as a communications specialist.
In 1991, Lisa married the love of her life and best friend, Ross DeVries. Together, Lisa and Ross enjoyed annual camping adventures, hosting friends and family, and raising their family together.
One of Lisa’s special gifts was her selfless, considerate spirit. A friend to all, Lisa was the first to remember a special event, a birthday, a favorite food, or reach out with a kind word when it was most needed. Lisa was a connector of people and cherished all friends she made throughout her life.
Lisa’s pride and joy were her three girls, Kayla, Anna, and Kendra. She worked tirelessly on the paperwork for China to be eligible to adopt them and grow her family together with Ross. Lisa was a devoted mother who attended every sporting event, appointment, show, and more in support of her children. She loved watching them grow into the beautiful young ladies they are today.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Ross DeVries of Holland, MI and their daughters Kayla, Anna, and Kendra; parents, Rog and Jan DeLong; siblings Deb (Mike) Koppenol, and Kristin (Eric) Miller; mother-in-law, Helen DeVries; special Aunt Evie; brother-in-law, Scott (Kathy) DeVries. In addition, Lisa cherished the role of aunt to several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday March 1, 2024, at Community Reformed Church, 10376 Felch St. Zeeland, MI 49464. Visitation with family will be from 5-8 pm on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland, MI 49464, as well as beginning at 10:00 am at church prior to the service on Friday.
