Pedro Villarreal, age 83, of Holland, passed away on Sunday, November 12 at his daughter Melissa’s home in Holland, Michigan. Pedro was born in Mission, Texas on May 16, 1940 and was raised in Brownfield, TX. He met and married his wife Martina Grimaldo near Fresno, CA. They raised their four children in Brownfield, TX and Holland, MI. Martina passed away on November 1, 2021 in Holland, MI. Pedro was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. He was employed at Baker Furniture and retired from Sligh Furniture Company. He made a positive impact in the lives of his family, friends, coworkers and others that had the benefit of knowing Pedro. He opened his home to numerous family and friends in their time of need.
Pedro was preceded in death by his wife, Martina; parents, Pedro and Francisca Villarreal; siblings, Belen Morin, Joel Villarreal, Jesse Villarreal, Joe Villarreal, Gaudalupe Villarreal, Raul Villarreal, and Mary Morin. Pedro is survived by his children, Steve (Gloria) Villarreal, David (Gabriela) Villarreal, John (Sheila) Villarreal, and Melissa (Pete) DeHaan; grandchildren, David Allen (Nicole) Villarreal, Brandon (Ann) Foley, Erik DeHaan, Sarah DeHaan, Mark DeHaan, Maggie (Trever) Ash, Steven Villarreal and Cecelia Villarreal; great grandchildren, Grace Foley, Elizabeth Foley and Ellyana Ash. Pedro is also survived by his sister, Ramona Mendola and numerous brothers in law, sisters in law; cousins, nephews and nieces.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, November 20, from 12:00PM to 1:00PM at the Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street, Holland. A funeral ceremony will be held following visitation at 1:00PM at the funeral home. Deacon Brian Piechuch presiding. Interment will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the auspices of the Mulder Chapel. Donations in lieu of flowers should be made to Hospice of Holland.
