HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 24, 2023) – One of two persons from the Grand Rapids suburb of Wyoming that were in a sedan that struck a deer and led to a crash into a building on Holland’s south side over the weekend has passed away as a result of her injuries.
On Tuesday, Department of Public Safety Captain of Administrative Services Bob Buursma reported that 60-year-old Georgianne Covelli lost her life. She was a front-seat passenger in the westbound vehicle that hit the animal on westbound I-196 around the 46 mile marker about 7:30 AM on Saturday, veered off of the roadway, went through a right-of-way fence, and crashed into a building nearby. The driver, her 55-year-old husband Kelly, was treated and released from Corewell Health-Butterworth Hospital.
Buursma reiterated that neither alcohol nor speed were factors in the incident.
