GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 13, 2023) – An 18-year-old Allendale man is behind bars as the investigation into the arrest of two persons who refused to cooperate with police on Thursday morning continues.
On Friday, Benjamin Levi King was arraigned in Grand Haven District Court on three counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer and was ordered held on $10,000 bond by Judge Craig Bunce. He was a passenger in a running vehicle that attempted to crash through a police blockade at the Blendon Township Fire Station off of Tyler Street.
The yet-to-be-named 22-year-old woman who had been driving the vehicle remains hospitalized, receiving mental health treatment, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Captain Jake Sparks, and has yet to be arraigned. Charges against her “will be sought in the future.”
An unnamed Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputy who had been hurt in the standoff has been released from a hospital, although Sparks did not say if that deputy has been cleared to return to his duties.
