DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Gas prices in Michigan are up 10 cents compared to last week.
Michigan drivers are now paying an average price of $2.16 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is the exact same as this time last month but still 49 cents less than this time last year, according to a report from AAA.
Motorists are paying an average of $32 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $12 from when prices were their highest last July.
A statement from AAA states that rising demand is the cause of the rise in prices.
“If demand continues to grow, pump prices could continue to climb,” AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland said in a statement. “However, as the nation settles into fall, demand will likely decline as drivers take fewer road trips.”
- Most expensive gas price averages: Marquette ($2.24), Metro Detroit ($2.18), Ann Arbor ($2.17)
- Least expensive gas price averages: Traverse City ($2.05), Flint ($2.13), Jackson ($2.14)
In Kalamazoo County, the average gas price is currently listed at $2.10 per gallon of unleaded.
