DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – The Detroit Tigers jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning and cruised to a 6-0 win over the Kansas City Royals Tuesday night.
Matthew Boyd allowed two hits over five-and-two-thirds innings for his second win. Miguel Cabrera and Willi Castro homered as Detroit snapped a three-game skid.
Jakob Junis didn’t survive the third inning and took the loss for Kansas City. Whit Merrifield and Salvador Perez each had two hits for the Royals.
In tonight’s series finale Tarik Skubal goes to the mound for the Tigers while the Royals counter with Brady Singer.
The Tigers have made some moves on the roster. Detroit placed infielder Jonathan Schoop on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to September 13 with a right wrist sprain.
The Tigers have reinstated infielder Niko Goodrum from the injured list after he was sidelined with an oblique strain. Detroit also optioned catcher Grayson Greiner to the alternate training site and recalled catcher Eric Haase from Toledo.
