WEST OLIVE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 13, 2023) – It’s an early start for the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday.
A 9 AM start is slated for the biweekly business meeting in which the panel will be receiving annual reports from the Information and Technology and the Parks and Recreation departments, as well as the Community Action Agency. Members will also vote on grant applications for the second phase of the Rosy Mound Expansion project, as well as the Greenway Trailhead project at the Upper Macatawa Natural Area, and for contracts for county building surveillance and maintenance.
One item that may draw some debate is a $572,000-plus request by the county’s Community Mental Health department for adding eight full-time new positions while removing two others. Officials say that they would be funded by a state Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics grant and through federal Medicaid dollars.
Another topic that could stir some comment is a request by County Administrator John Gibbs to reclassify and upgrade the “Executive Assistant” position to that of “Senior Executive Aide to the Administrator,” at a cost of over $37,000. Currently vacant, the post would have new responsibilities and required job classifications that Gibbs said would “ensure that the Office of the Administrator functions at its maximum potential.”
The county board meeting is in the Administration Building at the Fillmore Street Complex (12220 Fillmore St., West Olive), with a link to the agenda and supporting documents here.
