ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 2, 2023) – It should be a “rather light” agenda before the Zeeland City Council on Tuesday night.
That’s according to City Manager Tim Klunder, who in his briefing to the governing panel noted that the work/study session will start at 6:30 PM ahead of the 7 PM business meeting.
There are apparently only two matters of before council to decide upon. One is to approve a $5,500 proposal from retained traffic engineering firm Progressive AE to study a possible conversion of Maple and Centennial streets into two-way routes. Such approval, according to city infrastructure & finance assistant city manager Kevin Plockmeyer, would enable the city to enact such a conversion in March ahead of planned Main Avenue work, and while local schools are still in session.
The other proposal from Plockmeyer is for $82,136 for MC Smith and Associates to draw up a proposed storage building for the Felch Street Cemetery. This would serve as the “operational hub” of the cemetery for years to come, and would include a restroom, break room, and storage space for materials and indoor equipment.
