ORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 28, 2022) – A 23-year-old Muskegon man on Wednesday was arraigned on charges stemming from a shooting incident at an off-campus apartment near Grand Valley State University in Allendale.
Hudsonville District Court Judge Judith Mulder set $500,000 bail on DeJarion Blackshire on counts of Assault with Intent to Murder and Felony Firearm, and he remains in the Ottawa County Jail. He was taken into custody around 1:45 PM on Tuesday, nine days after the incident at the Canvas Townhomes complex off of 48th Avenue.
Four persons were wounded, none seriously, and several parked vehicles were hit by gunfire as a “loud party” on September 18th turned violent. It was the second such incident of gunfire at that location in about a three-week span, but there has been no indication disclosed that the incidents were related. The arrest came after several days of interviews and the seizing of evidence, including several firearms.
Blackshire is not a GVSU student and apparently had no affiliation with the school.
The cases remain open, with Sparks saying that additional charges are possible. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
